Are HairMax Lasers safe to use?
Every device that is part of the HairMax range has been FDA-cleared as a home use Low Level Laser device to treat Androgenetic Alopecia. In fact HairMax were the first brand in the market to achieve an FDA-clearance for a Low Level Laser Treatment for male and female hair loss. Over the last 20 years, HairMax have had over 10 FDA-clearances.

Are there any side effects from the HairMax devices?
There are no systematic side effects from using any of our HairMax Low Level Laser devices. In total there have been 7 clinical trials using HairMax devices, making HairMax the most clinically researched brand on the market. Across the 450 participants in those trials, no side effects were reported.

In a very small handful of cases a mild allergic reaction to the treatment is seen. It is recommended that you do a patch test on your forearm when you first receive your device. If you are allergic to the treatment you may see redness or itchiness overnight after the patch test. If you do suffer an allergic reaction then please do contact us and we can arrange a full refund.

Do I need to wear special goggles to protect my eyes?
All HairMax devices are perfectly safe, and no goggles or special glasses are needed to protect your eyes. That being said it please do not look directly into the lasers when they are turned on. In the same way that staring directly into a light bulb or the sun, you could do permanent damage to your eyes. Otherwise the lasers that in our HairMax devices emit a red light that is not harmful to your eyes at all.

Can I use this treatment with any other treatments, such as Prescription Medications?
HairMax devices can be used in conjunction with any other hair loss treatments including medications. The HairMax treatment has no contraindications with any other condition or hair loss treatment and combination therapies have been proven to be more effective.

HairMax have had clinical trials to compare the HairMax treatment with Minoxidil and Finasteride, 2 FDA-approved medications to treat Hair Loss. In both clinical trials the participants that were using the HairMax laser treatment alongside a medication saw the best results out of anyone.

Which HairMax laser device is best suited for me?
Each HairMax device provides the exact same therapeutic laser treatment, so it’s hard to say that any one particular device is best suited to you. The difference between the range of HairMax devices is in how you use the particular device. We have hand-held and hands-free devices that change the convenience of how the device is used. The other difference between the devices is the number of laser diodes that the device has and this changes the length of time you need to use the device for.

Can the HairMax treatment cause more hair loss?
HairMax works in the same way as all other hair loss treatments in that it can cause temporary hair loss. This is because the treatment induces new growth phases to start sooner than when they otherwise would. When a new growth phase starts, the old hair is shed and a new hair grows from fresh. This new hair is the hair that will have benefited from the HairMax treatment.

Androgenetic Alopecia causes more hairs to be in a resting phase than is otherwise normal. By causing these new growth phases to start, a greater shed is seen usually over the first 4-6 weeks of using the HairMax treatment. While this shed can cause more stress for you, it is in fact a positive sign that the treatment is working for you successfully.
